Why I Left Methodism

I officially left the Methodist Church at the end of 2019, though I theologically departed from it in stages starting in 2015. In more recent days, it has become quite popular to write a “tell all” disparaging the faith or faith tradition you have left. So after 6.5 years, I have decided to finally join in on the fun.
Here is the reason I left the Methodist Church:
I was convinced by scripture that the doctrine and practices expressed in the Second London Confession of Faith to be true.
That’s it. Now, obviously I have many disagreements with the Methodist Church, but I need not disparage my brothers and sisters in the faith. I need not shun those whom I have pastored. Likewise, I need not trample the soil where I was once planted, watered, grew, and flourished. In reality, I am who I am because of my time spent there in the Methodist Church.
I have a great love for men who discipled me and continue to champion faithfulness in the Methodist Tradition – faithful men such as David Watson and Scott Kisker.
When one person deconstructs - nay, when they apostatize - from the faith it should be no surprise to us when they disparage the faith and seek to convince others to follow them in their foolish act of rebellion. However, believers should not act in like manner. There is no need to write an expose explaining your reasoning, which just turns into disparaging the tradition that formed you. Quit making a show of yourself. Just leave quietly and go and serve Christ faithfully where he has planted you.
And if you have done this, and you’re reading this your probably thinking…
You're so vain (you're so vain)
I bet you think this post is about you
Don't you, don't you?
…just a small joke. But seriously, it’s not about you. However, if you have done this behavior it would probably be best to just go and take down that post. It wasn’t helpful, neither were the responses to you.
Be happy. Stay faithful.
